Kathy
Kathy would be a good role model for Anyone thinking about
competing in bodybuilding , not only because of the way
she looks ,but because her first show in Arizona she won
the overall. The following year she took first in her weight
class in the western regional.
At age 45 Kathy weighs less then 100 lbs, but let me assure
you it is all muscle. Even though she no longer competes
she still stays in go shape by eating healthy and working
out on a regular bases.
As a personal trainer I have trained a lot of people.
The one thing they have in common is they all have food
vices. Kathy”s favorite cheat foods are popcorn and Mexican
food. From the looks of her I don’t think she cheats to
often.
Kathy is a Chiropractor / Massage therapist and a Wellness
educator. I asked with such a busy schedule how does she
manage to get her workouts in. She admits it may not always
be a full workout but she gets in as much as she can. Kathy’s
favorite body part to train is her back, I don’t have a
routine she says every day is different I base my workouts
on how I feel and how much time I have.
I decided to ask her some of the questions that I get
asked a lot. How do you get that six pack? “ By reducing
your body fat with (cardio)”. How often do you work her
abs? “ Ounce a week is all you really need.” I spoke to
her about core exercises and she admits that since she stopped
training with me she doesn’t work them as much as she should.
Kathy and I both know that getting ready for a show is a lot
of hard work, we agree that you need a strong support system
to do your best. Kathy said the hardest part about training
for a show is knowing that you are doing all the right things
at the right time. Make sure you have a trainer who knows
what he or she is doing and follow them blindly.
After chit chatting with Kathy we decided that I will
be helping her with her core work sometime in the near future,
she said core work makes a big difference .in how she looks
and feels.
Kathy advice to you is be consistent, and don’t worry
about the scale go by how you feel and how many pull ups
you can do. She told me she can do 6 sets of 10 reps. That
sounds pretty good to me how about you?
