With the incidence of childhood obesity at a record
high, it’s important for parents to set a good example for
their children by making exercise fun and setting lifetime
habits in motion. When children see their parents working
out consistently and enjoying it, they are much more likely
to incorporate exercise in their lives.
Families that spend quality time together in the gym or
playing sports together are happier and healthier than families
that are sedentary. I’m not saying you should never sit
down to play your children’s favorite video game with them,
but don’t make it the most important part of you daily routine.
Most parents take an active role in there children’s education
but not all participate in their physical exercises. Studies
have shown that physical activity can create healthy brain
activity which transforms into better grades.. If you truly
want to help your children get a better education turn off
the television and go for a bike ride, you might find its
not only healthy but it’s a great way to get to know your
child.
The most common excuse I hear is I don’t have the time.
There are 168 hours in a week, doesn’t your family deserve
5 of them? A lot of people think that exercise has to be
2 or 3 hours at a time in order for it to be effective.
Wrong. If you exercise 30 min. a day you can make a healthy
change in both you and your child’s life.
Exercising wont solve all of your problems, but it is
a great way to sped the time not thinking about them? I
know some of you may not know what to do or how to get started.
Before you start any new activity consult your doctor. Now
lace up your sneakers and go for a walk, that is a good
starter.
